چکیده

cently, with colorectal cancer (8). Thus, it is conceivable that PAHs play a role in some of the genetic alterations leading to colorectal tumor development. CYP1A1 is of critical importance for the metabolism of PAHs. The gene product, AHH, initiates a multienzyme pathway that converts PAHs to their ultimate DNA-binding carcinogenic forms. A MspI RFLP of the 3'-end of the human CYPIAJ gene has recently been described which is in genetic disequilibrium with an adenine to guanine mutation at residue 462 in exon 7. The latter mutation causes an isoleucine to valine substitution in the heme binding region of CYPJA1, which appears to result in an increased enzymatic activity (9).Thesetwopolymorphisms havebeenshowntobemorefrequent in Japanese than in Caucasians and to be associated with lung cancer (10, 11). In the present study, we assessed these CYP1A1 polymor phisms in a population-based case-control study of in situ colorectal cancer and found that they may also be associated with large bowel cancer.

Genetic polymorphisms of superoxide dismutase-1 A251G and catalase C-262T with the risk of colorectal cancer

Oxidative stress is significant in numerous types of disease including cancer. To protect cells and organs against reactive oxygen species (ROS), the body has evolved an antioxidant protection system that involved in the detoxification of ROS. Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP) of anti-oxidative enzymes may dramatically change the activity of the encoded proteins; therefore, certain alleles ...

بررسی نقش پلی مورفیسم‌های ژن O6 – متیل گوانین متیل ترانسفراز در سرطان کولورکتال

Abstract Background: Sporadic colorectal cancer is the fourth most common cancer in Iran. The DNA repair protein O6-methylguanine-DNA methyltransferase (MGMT) is involved in the cellular defense against alkylating agents. Genetic alterations in the MGMT gene may impair the protein’s ability to remove alkyl groups from the O6-position of guanine, thereby raising the mutation rate and increasi...

مطالعه ارتباط دو پلی مورفیسم ژن های 1XRCC و 1OGG با ریسک فاکتورهای مرتبط با سرطان کولورکتال در جمعیتی از خوزستان

Background and purpose: Colorectal cancer is one of the most common cancers in the world and Iran. This cancer is a multifactorial disease that is induced by interaction of various genetic and environmental factors. In this study, we investigated the interactions between different environmental factors and candidate polymorphisms of two genes in colorectal cancer X-ray repair cross-complementin...

5-Fluorouracil Induce the Expression of TLR4 on HCT116 Colorectal Cancer Cell Line Expressing Different Variants of TLR4

Two common single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of the human TLR4 gene, namely Asp299Gly (D299G) and Thr399Ile (T399I), have been shown to impair the ability of certain individuals to respond properly to TLR4 ligands. 5-Fluorouracil (5-FU) is widely used for the treatment of patients with advanced colon cancers. The present study examined the impact of two common polymorphisms of the TLR4 gen...
